The website design process nearly always involves a lot of questions, decisions and changes to improve on what was expected to provide more than the website client could have possibly imagined. The challenges along the development process are opportunities to exceed expectations but they can be testing.
The following exchanges give examples of a website client requests during the website design process:
[Website Client] Text – Can you give me feedback as to your opinion on the copy SEO value of new copy, as agreed.
[Website Design Company] Regarding your webcopy / text There is a metric we use to measure ‘reading ease’ and your new home page and content pages have similar scores to the ones we produced. Which is good but….After a 10 minute review I consider the text ok to read but it seems the writer has attempted to squeeze in many repeating search terms and its possible that it could be classed as spamming.
There is text copied from other sites although its not much (about 5% of source page) – our text was 100% original and not copied and thats a pre-requisite for all our text. The exact copied text has been pointed out to you when we chatted on the phone. On investigation it appears that this text on at least 2 websites were published before your site so looks like your writer has copied them.
[Website Client] If you look at the portfolio page I think regarding the website link we are at cross purposes. I want the entrance page to the portfolio to show the options so a client can select the “product” that interests them and bypass all the “products” that don’t. I have three more links below that also show the kind of visual page that I am looking for. The last one back to the previously recommended design but would want a visual rather than plain box if we go with this design. If you don’t understand or think I’m looking for content outside my portfolio then we need to speak.
[Website Design Company] Regarding your portfolio page, If I understand you correctly you are saying you dont like your existing page, but want a more ‘visual’ page. The ‘flash’ website example is not suitable / applicable for you so am I correct in saying you want something like the website page example given previously (draft 3a) but with only 3 options that will link individually to one of three pages that will be 1 section out of the three on your existing portfolio page? We assume you have already seen the treatment page draft (draft 5a)
[Website Client] Regarding the Home Page the text is visually too much on the Home Page but a way around this may be to put the three treatments inside boxes so visually it breaks all the information up and looks more pleasing. The urban retreat inspired look is still my favourite as I like clean and uncluttered. At the very least a soft box (in my corporate colour) like this to clarify, visually, different sections and break the text up. We spoke about changes to the navigation bar so portfolio and charges show on it? I think “about” is far too ambiguous to find the relevant information.
[Website Design Company] Agree its too long and ‘wordy’ and think the three services would look better with an image embedded uniformly on all 3 blocks of text
