After we created a vacancy for a Trainee Website Designer we were delighted to receive the following introductions, we are certain we will start to train one of the lucky applicants soon:
1, I’m a mature student looking for some work experience over the summer, June to September. I am just completing my first year of a BSc Business Computer Systems degree, during the year I have been taught HTML5, CSS and JavaScript.
The first assignment related to a website designed for Firefox using HTML5 and CSS, the about me page is linked to two CSS documents and when the user changes the style on the about me page the appearance has to change significantly as if its a completely different web page. I gained an A+ for this assignment (only 8 out of 180 students achieved this grade).
The second assignment focuses on the use of JavaScript, with no JavaScript to be contained within the HTML. I am awaiting grades for this assignment but had a examiner look around my code on Monday and they said my site was customer focused and one of the best they had seen. They also commented it went way over and above what was required for the assignment, which highlights my commitment to the subject.
I am very passionate and enthusiastic and want to learn as much as I can about web development. I am willing to work all summer and put in extra hours at home to gain as much from the experience as I can. If you have any places for work experience or trainee roles than I would be very grateful if you would consider me for a position.
2, I have heard some good things about your company and was wondering if you had any WebDesign Jobs available as i have 8 years experience in Joomla, WordPress, XHTML/CSS i have created various E-commerce sites.
I’m currently trying to put together a portfolio of my work. Brilliant that you have a job opening, which would be perfect for someone line myself
3, I’m currently working part time in retail, but i have a passion for web design, I know how to build a basic website using HTML and CSS in dreamweaver and also just using notepad as i self tought myself. Im currently making 2 websites for different companys for free to build up my portfolio.
I have read some of the job descriptions for web designers / developers and you need some sort of higher qualification, or experience within a web design company already but how you meant to do this without the people willing to give you a try.
I am writing today to ask for your advice on what to do? If your advice is to achieve a qualification can you advice me on a course to do? Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.
