Off Page Analysis & Competitor Comparison
Google looks at three main things when checking out websites, Age (which we cannot affect), Relevance (which is determined through the content on your site) and finally Authority (which is determined in by the quality and quantity of the backlinks).
We provide you with a graph that shows the number of backlinks you have and one that shows you how many different domains these links are coming from. Google will start to disregard the authority of links if you keep getting them from the same sites, so to have only a few links from a small number of domains is not good enough.
We will Look at your competitors to find out who has the most backlinks and normally we will find that these links are coming from a much greater number of referring domains so we aim to match your competitors linking strategy.
Keyword Targeting Strategy
Tools
When deciding the best keywords to target in an SEO campaign, it’s important to go on more than just gut feeling. We use a number of tools to help us create strong keyword strategies that:
- Have a good monthly search volume
- The search intent is clear
- Rankings are achievable in a reasonable timeframe
Longtail Keywords
Keywords that are less often searched are known as “longtail keywords”.
Although there is less direct demand for these keywords, they are often easier to rank well for in a quick time frame because the competition is lower. Longtail keywords also tend to convert into sales and leads much better than head terms as they are generally more specific, and sales focussed.
Head terms
Keywords that are searched for frequently are often called “head terms”.
Head terms have a greater monthly search volume but are far more competitive to rank for than longtail keywords. The conversion rate also tends to be much lower as the terms are more general and research-based than the longtail variations.
Seasonal Keywords
Seasonal keywords are terms with search volume that fluctuates significantly during the course of the year.
When considering which keywords to target, it’s always important to think of the seasonality, as this will affect the monthly traffic to the site and the time taken to see a return on the investment.
On Page Content Overview
Homepage
The homepage can be considered one of the most important pages on the site, from both a user’s point of view, and an SEO point of view.
Homepage content adds relevancy to a page and allows deep linking, allowing authority to be spread deeper to the rest of the site.
Product pages
Product pages are generally thin on content because they only have the default manufacturer content on by default. This additional content will serve to reinforce the page and give it uniqueness and relevancy.
Manufacturer descriptions are often sales based in context and this isn’t always what visitors want to read. Search engines will also react better to fresh and relevant content compared to that written by a manufacturer, which is often duplicated throughout dozens if not more sites on the web.
Core Pages
Core pages or category pages exist to reinforce a set of services or a brand/manufacturer to the user. From an SEO point of view it allows the pages to be found and ranked based on relevance and authority.
This placement of this content is crucial as these are often used as landing pages. Linking throughout this content will further reinforce the product pages.
Blogs
Blogs normally exist for both opinionated and factual content about products, brands or services. They also allow linking to relevant pages within the site to pass on authority from the blog.
Blogs are an important part of the linking building process as it helps pass authority back to your main landing page – the homepage, as well as specific product or category pages.

SEO and Social Media
Google is constantly looking for new ways to tweak their algorithm in an effort to better determine the relevancy of a website for a user’s particular query. Now Social Media now plays a significant role in determining rankings.
There are currently five main social platforms which now have a direct impact on rankings within Google:
Google+
Twitter
Facebook
LinkedIn
Pinterest
Social signals affecting Google rankings is, as mentioned, fairly new. Due to this, we expect that the weight of social signals to increase in the near future across the three social networks mentioned; Google, Twitter and Facebook. Because of this, it is becoming increasingly important to maintain a social media presence.
