We have been alerted by a client of them going against our advice and hiring an Indian SEO company, we have now given them advice and fixed the mess they were left in but to demonstrate what a total waste of time they are have a look at this sample conversation between the Indian SEO company and the website owners that demonstrates the pointlessness of their work and potential damage that these SEO companies can create. I sometimes think they create work for the sake of it to simply tell the website owners that they have been doing something. Duplicating facebook business pages has never been a SEO tactic and I believe it never will be.
[Website Owner] Have just noticed an almost duplicate Facebook profile for my business assuming it was you can you please remove the Facebook page you have created. I assume it is you as you are promoting my dresses which is good of you however, I did not give you permission to do this and told you that I already have a Facebook page. For now, I would prefer to manage Facebook.
As you probably know Facebook do not allow duplicate pages so your page could cause problems and they could take my original page down (with hundreds of comments and likes!) Also Google would not like this im sure.
Please get back to me to confirm you will remove this page as it could cause
issues for me. Also did you receive the two blog posts that I re-wrote yesterday?
I think we should tall via skype before anymore work is done by your company, just so we can clarify expectations and requirements and I can understand completely what it is it you will be doing and what I can do from my side.
[SEO Company] I apologize for the inconvenience made. Actually I asked in the input form about Facebook and you mentioned to work as a third party who will like and promote your products. Therefore I created a page using a third party name without using your brand name and this page is different than your original one. But, if you don’t like the way of promotion then I will delete the page. Please can you confirm this to me via email.
[Website Owner] When you said that you would promote my business on Facebook as a third party, I thought you meant as an individual or a complete separate third party facebook profile. But it looked as though you were actually replicating my rockafrock page. You may have used a different name, but you have used my photo from my website as cover picture and my very own model photo as a profile picture! Thats how I noticed the page I thought someone had stolen my images to create their own page. Then i realised it was you.
You also used my very own business description from my current Facebook page to create another page. This is not what I consider to be an independent separate third party page promoting and liking my products. Unless I am missing something?….
Perhaps we can Skype Wednesday when I have had a day to rest and get well. I think you’re 5hours ahead of me as I believe you are in India so would 9am UK time work for you? If so, please advise of your Skype information.
