More examples why its important to listen to your Website Design company when requesting changes as its so easy to make changes that can negatively affect your website’s performance.
[Web Designers] You have told us that these initial changes have nothing to do with SEO and are purely smartening the website up in tandem with other marketing exercises that are underway at yoru company but we are really concerned.
Confused now you mentioned your primary site and asked for that to be optimised for Essex not london but say you are only concerned with the secondary site, please confirm that the changes to the primary site as you requested below was directed at the secondary website. The menu is perfectly centred unless we have mis-understood what you want (press ctrl+r to get the updated page on your browser) The 7 menu options are perfectly in the centre of the menu bar.
I believe even though you don’t think so that these initial changes have a lot to do with SEO as the content is 90% of a website’s SEO and now there is almost no content the site’s SEO is adversely affected. We talked about this during our weekly meetings and I had to try to explain your requests to our guys as we have never seen anything so drastic to be requested and they all questioned me about it. As long as new improved content replaces the removed content quickly then the negative consequences may be avoided.
I can see you have some clear and strong views on these changes and can complete any change you request but some (like changing the home page main title (index page H1) is a key SEO ranking factor and by changing it to ‘Home’ you are reducing the website’s SEO impact – hope you don’t mind me commenting on these changes but this is normally what people value from ourselves (honest / genuine advice and comments). Hope you appreciate my concerns and know I want the site to do well the same as you and don’t think I am questioning you just for the sake of it.
[Website Owner] I’d like now to seriously consider what options are available to us for SEO / Website Optimisation / Lead Generation.
Firstly, I have just done a search for us on Google and the primary website is still at the top whilst the secondary website is 9th, surely this can be reversed easily enough?
Could I invite you please to put together an action plan with a fixed price, that would enable us to stand a chance at least of being found should a buyer search for us although I’d guess that might be asking too much.
I am not sold at all on Social Media, I cannot imagine a Facilities Manager or Procurement Manager using Facebook or Twitter as a search tool ; plus I simply do not have the resource to generate sufficient numbers of daily clicks / likes etc needed to be picked up on by Google. B2C of course, but not B2B. Therefore, am looking for some creative savvy ideas.
[Website Designers] Regarding SEO anything is possible and hopefully after seeing the results we have achieved previously (on local / national and international search terms) reassure you that we can produce results but perhaps your ideas / comments about search engine placements, keywords and SEO in general, after these recent updates on the site may warrant another chat about the project in general as I am still worried about the negative SEO actions done to your websites.
Our Standard SEO program is a 3 month / £900 project that covers all aspects of SEO but on top of that due to the changes on the site recently we need more content so that’s where I need to talk to you to understand the thinking behind removing so much of the site. For geographic targeted search terms you will now fall out of the Search Engine Results Pages (serps) due to the pages now being removed.
